Your Family’s Tech Mission Statement

A family mission statement will likely change many times as your family evolves. That’s okay! Going through a mission writing process on occasion helps us to reconnect with ourselves and our values.

A mission statement isn’t about creating rules…

It’s about pointing yourself towards an intentional lifestyle that aligns with who you want to be. It is a clear expression of three things:

What matters to us (The Cause)

What we're going to do about it (The Action)

What positive change we hope to see (The Impact)

Tips to make the process more meaningful

Make it a family affair: Remember those values you've been collecting? They're your building blocks. Every family member's perspective matters here

Keep it real: Your mission statement should reflect who you actually are, not who you think you should be. If your family values fun and spontaneity, your approach to technology should honor that.

Write in pencil: Like we discussed last week about time and change, your family's needs and values will evolve. Your mission statement can (and should) evolve too.

Kindred Team Insight:

Creating a family tech mission statement isn't just about managing screen time or setting boundaries. It's about bringing intention and awareness to how we use technology, ensuring it enhances rather than detracts from the values we hold dear. When we're clear about our 'why,' the 'how' becomes much easier to navigate.
